Walton County to Break Ground on Driftwood Road Municipal Parking Facility
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. – June 9 – The Walton County Board of County Commissioners and the Walton County Beach Operations and Tourism departments will break ground on the Driftwood Road Municipal Parking facility on Monday, June 16, at 9 a.m., at 76 Driftwood Rd. in Miramar Beach.
The project was approved by the BCC to support the need for public beach accesses, rest areas and transit stops. When complete, the Driftwood Road Municipal Parking facility will include 67 parking spaces – four of which will have electric vehicle charging stations – and dedicated parking for ADA, LSV and bicycles. Visitors will experience an air-conditioned public transit stop and restroom facility for their convenience. Construction of the 1.119-acre parcel will take approximately 11 months.
This project is funded by the Tourist Development Tax, a 5 percent tax collected on short-term rentals in south Walton County. Residents do not pay the bed tax unless they are taking a “staycation” in a local rental property or accommodation.
