Walton County to Host Grand Opening and Break Ground at Grayton Beach Facilities

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. – June 17 – The Walton County Board of County Commissioners, Beach Operations and Tourism departments will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Grayton Beach Municipal Parking Facility and will break ground on the Grayton Beach Community Center/Restroom Facility on Monday, June 30, starting at 9 a.m.

The ceremony will begin at 1505 County Highway 283 South in Grayton Beach with a short tram ride to the nearby Community Center site for the groundbreaking followed by the ribbon cutting for the Municipal Parking Facility. The public is invited to attend.

The completed $5.42 million Grayton Beach Municipal Parking Facility features a 1,700 square foot multi-level transit facility with 204 parking spaces, including dedicated areas for ADA-accessible vehicles, electric cars, low-speed vehicles, and bicycles. The facility also includes restrooms, public transportation amenities, and connects to the multi-use path.

The Grayton Beach Community Center is located at 44 Hotz Ave. in Grayton Beach. Once completed, the 1,600-square-foot building will house a local information station, restrooms, an observation deck, a boardwalk to the beach and access to the beach tram. Construction is expected to take about 12 months, with completion anticipated next summer.

These projects are funded by the Tourist Development Tax, a 5 percent tax collected on short-term rentals in south Walton County. Residents do not pay the bed tax unless they are taking a “staycation” in a local rental property or accommodation.
