What’s New in South Walton

WALTON COUNTY, Fla.—April 2, 2018— Flowers, new businesses and new offerings are all blooming in South Walton this spring. The area’s famously beautiful turquoise waters and sugar-white sands remain constant, but new businesses, menus, renovations and events are ready to greet visitors and locals alike.

New Restaurant Openings and Renovations:

  • La Crema Tapas and Chocolate in Rosemary Beach has undergone renovations. The newly re-done location has expanded into the space next door to the south, which is now a beautiful bar and dining area. The kitchen was also expanded to accommodate the increase in seating and the interior of the restaurant has received a modernized look.

 

  • Hwy 393 has a new addition, Thirty-A Filet and Vine, a specialty grocery store featuring local, premium meats, produce and specialty food items like fresh bread from Black Bear Bread Company. In addition to these grocery items, they also host wine tasting events which benefit local women fighting breast cancer.

 

  • Pescado Seafood Grill & Rooftop Bar is now open in Rosemary Beach. Situated just above Southside Slice, Pescado offers incredible views of the gulf to accompany their extensive drink menu and fresh, gulf seafood. If you’re looking for a quiet, kid-free place to grab dinner Pescado is the place to go. Their restaurant is only accessible for ages 18 and up.

  • Seascape Resort Towne Center has added a new business to their directory, 2 Birds Coffee and Café. The café menu features classic espresso drinks, breakfast options and lunch as well as homemade pastries and grain bowls. In addition to coffee, 2 Birds also serves craft beer and wine for the lunchtime crowd.

 

  • Amavida Coffee has added a new location at The Market Shops in Miramar Beach. Established in 2004, Amavida Coffee and Tea is an organic, fair trade coffee company that delivers flavorful and fresh coffee roasted right here in South Walton. You can buy their coffee brewed or bagged and take the Amavida goodness home with you!

  • Slick Lips Seafood and Oyster Bar is now opened in The Village of Baytowne Wharf. Slick Lips celebrates the spirit of “Old Florida” while encouraging innovative cooking emphasizing fresh, local ingredients. From finely cut steaks to fresh, Gulf seafood there’s something for everyone on Slick Lip’s menu.

 

  • Surfing Deer in Seagrove Beach is now serving brunch and lunch with their new Day Grazing Menu. The new menu is available Thursday through Saturday from 10:30-2:30 and is served on the deck overlooking the Gulf. You can also enjoy drink specials, and the full drinks menu from dinner service as well.

  • Chef Jim Richard’s team has opened a new restaurant on the ground floor of Trebeache’. Redfish Taco features fresh, fast and casual Mexican food with a Gulf flare. Menu items range from $5.95 to $11.95 and there’s plenty of parking, outdoor seating and take out available. The new location is also pet-friendly so bring your pet along and enjoy tacos on the patio!

  • Erin Bakker and Ali Weil, Owners of The Hive Creative Consulting, are excited to announce a new business venture, The Honeycomb Kitchen & Catering. They Honeycomb is a new local business that offers catering services and a shared commercial kitchen space that can be rented by other small, culinary businesses.

 

  • Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in Grand Boulevard has a new spring menu featuring fresh spring flavors like watermelon and blueberry cocktails, arugula and prosciutto pizza and banana and caramel cheesecakes. In addition to the new spring menu, their Stoking Social Hour has been extended to 7 days a week from 3:30-6:00 PM.

 

  • Bud & Alley’s Rooftop Bar & Grill is updating and enhancing their Herb Garden and Gazebo area as part of the renovations and expansion of the Seaside Boardwalk and deck in the continuation of the new beachside. The restaurant is still open for business, so stop by and check out their progress!

  • Formerly Another Broken Egg in Grayton Beach, is now Crackings. The restaurant will remain owned and operated by the same family but will no longer be part of the Broken Egg Franchise. This change brings with it a completely new menu! Though the menu will be different, guests can still enjoy the same iconic pottery mugs the establishment is known for. The restaurant will continue serving breakfast, brunch and lunch.

 

New Shopping Additions and Renovations:

  • South Walton is now home to its first bridal boutique. Margaret Ellen Bridal is now open in the bustling area of 30Avenue. The only bridal boutique in South Walton, they carry a host of well-known designers including Blue Willow, Blush, Hayley Paige, Liancarlo and more. Visits are by appointment only, and will only host one bride per appointment to provide a truly luxurious experience.

 

  • Indigo Boutique has officially opened in WaterColor. Specializing in clothing, art and décor the new lifestyle boutique looks to offer shoppers a unique and organic experience. With items ranging from handmade and specialty clothing to artisan jewelry and souvenir gifts there is something for all ages at a reasonable price point.

  • The shops at Grayton Beach welcomed new store Mahalo Grayton, a retail store with gifts, souvenirs, beach gear and rentals. The quirky store front, located next door to Hurricane Oyster Bar, has gifts for everyone in your life from the mermaid or dog obsessed to the t-shirt and hat collector and everyone in between. New brands are frequently added, and locals can receive a discount with ID!

 

  • Watersport company BŌTE has opened a store front in Grayton Beach. Based out of Fort Walton Beach, the Grayton Beach storefront is the first in South Walton. With three different types of boards with various models of each, BŌTE truly offers something for every type of boarder from beginners, to families, to the avid fisherman.

  • The Artful Soap Company has joined the other shops of The Village of Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin. The Artful Soap offers total skin care and gift. Patrons can find bath bombs, candles, after-sun care and even pet-car products in the new storefront. All products are hand-crafted locally by the owners and ensure a 100% natural product.

  • Adaro Art in Watersound has added new artists to its gallery. Visitors can now view and purchase pieces by ceramicist Kim Murton, painter Alex Blanco and Jewelry designer Betty Contant. The resort lifestyle boutique’s collection features apparel for men and women, accessories, and Alys Beach logo beach gear like water bottles, towels and bags. The website exclusively sells Alys Beach logo wear so patrons can now shop Alys Beach from all over the world.

 

  • Grand Boulevard welcomed new store, Hemline in March. Hemline is a bohemian-infused, contemporary women’s clothing, shoes and accessories company that features over 200 lines. In addition to Hemline, The Jewel, a modern-contemporary jewelry boutique is set to open this month.

New Accommodation Updates and Renovations:

  • Hilton Sandestin Golf Beach Resort and Spa has introduced its new Raw Bar featuring Alligator Harbor Clams, house smoked Gulf Seafood Salad, Gulf Oysters and more. In addition to this new addition, Picnix has added gourmet hot dogs to their menu including a Mac-and-Cheese dog and AAA-Four Diamond Rated Steakhouse, Seagar’s has launched a new spring menu featuring seasonal veggies, fresh Gulf seafood and of course premium cuts of steak.

 

  • Local property management company Southern Vacation Rentals has joined acquired Sandcastle Escapes. The acquisition added over 100 new properties to Southern Vacation Rentals offerings. With the new acquisition, Southern now represents nearly 1,400 properties throughout the Gulf Coast area.

 

  • Sandestin Investments announced the launch of its newest neighborhood, Osprey Pointe at Sandestin. The new development will be a set of luxury condominiums featuring livable, spacious design coupled with features such as walk-in showers, expansive balconies and kitchens made for entertaining. The condominiums will be rental-capable and enjoy full access to all of Sandestin’s resort activities and facilities.

 

  • 360 Blue Properties has acquired St. Joe Club’s Vacation Rental division. This acquisition transferred all of their vacation rentals to 360 Blue and has opened the door for guests and owners of 360’s properties to enjoy St. Joe’s previously private amenities. These amenities include Shark’s Tooth Golf Course, Camp Creek Golf Course and Watersound Beach Club.

 

  • Beachy Beach 30A announce the groundbreaking ceremony and launch of their newest luxury beachside residential development on 30A. Grace Pointe sits nestled between the WaterSound Beach Club and WaterSound Beach community. The gated community’s homes range in size from 2,600 to 5,800 square feet with prices beginning at 1.7 million. The ceremony and launch party will take place Thursday, April 12 at 3:00 PM.

 

Other Updates and Additions:

  • Northwest Florida Regional Airport (VPS) and Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) announced additions to their flight lists. American Airlines will now join the line-up at ECP with hubs in Charlotte and Dallas/Fort Worth. At VPS, Allegiant Airlines expanded their presence with a new year-round base and 5 new direct flight destinations. The expansion will now include Lexington, Bentonville, Evansville, Concord and Raleigh-Durham. Flights for both airports begin in June but can booked now.

 

  • Emerald Coast Theatre Company announced their call for entries to the Northwest Florida Theatre Festival to be held May 16-20 at their location in Grand Boulevard. The festival is an open, non-juried invitation for regional involvement in the arts and will be produced in conjunction with the Cultural Arts Alliance’s Art Week.   

 

  • 360 Blue Experiences have added some new, exclusive experiences to their repertoire. New options include a Spa Day Getaway, In-home Wine Tasting and Sushi Classes. In addition to these experiences, they are also offering new outdoor excursions which include a Night Kayaking Tour and Eco-Tour.

 

  • Glow Med Spa of 30A has opened a new location in Blue Mountain Beach. In addition to the new space, they are also offering new services including Botox and dermal fillers. They also offer Microneedling, Dermaplaning, Chemical peels, Oxygen facials, Vampire facials and more.

  • In celebration of its 11th year, Digital Graffiti is changing up the route that visitors will take as they wind through the celebrated design community, allowing attendees to discover breathtaking projection art created by artists from around the world at every turn. The Saturday night poolside event is receiving an update as well, as the pool area of Caliza Pool will be arranged to promote more relaxed, intimate discussions of art, in addition to showcasing additional artwork curated specially for the event. 

 

  • Visitors and locals alike can see a whole new spin on South Walton during a biking tour of the area by Eventure Tour Co. Tours are all on electric bikes, and great for all ages and athletic ability. The group offers various types of tours including one focusing on arts, history, and a concierge tour which includes all of 30A! Tours are designed for no more than 10 people, and are available to be booked now.
