What's New in South Walton in Winter 2020

New Restaurant Openings and Renovations:

Farm & Fire Southern Pizzeria is open in Santa Rosa Beach. Featuring a beautiful view of the Choctawhatchee Bay, Farm & Fire blends elements from The Fire (coal ovens- pizza, meatballs, whole fish), Market (salads, charcuterie, desserts), and Speakeasy (our classically creative bar) into a seamless dining experience controlled by our guests. Using a family style approach, the culinary team designed the menu to accommodate large groups, families, intimate settings, and solo diners. Farm & Fire is open Wednesday through Sunday from 4-9 p.m.

First Watch will soon be opening a South Walton location. The new location of the breakfast, brunch, and lunch restaurant will be at the corner of Highway 98 and West Hewett Road. in Santa Rosa Beach. Site work is underway in anticipation of construction beginning, and the restaurant is expected to open in 2020.

 

Red Bar will make its long-awaited return after the establishment beloved by many around the world burned down on Feb. 13, 2019. The Red Bar is a well-known and loved Walton County restaurant. Opened in the tiny town of Grayton Beach, the Red Bar has been welcoming visitors from all over the world for the last 25 years. Construction of the Red Bar is expected to be completed by Memorial Day 2020.

Fluke Oyster and Seafood Bar, coming in 2020, will take the place of the old Spicy Noodle building. Fluke will be serving local oysters when available as well as oysters sourced from different parts of the country. The restaurant will also be doing a seafood boil, fresh catch, baked oysters in a high heat oven display for guests to see. Guests will enjoy an open shucking area where they can watch the masters do their work. Fluke will also have options for the non-seafood and vegetarian guests as well as serving co-owner Greg Wakeham's famous clam chowder year-round.

Shaka Sushi and Noodle Bar and Southside Slice Pizzeria are now delivering from 4 p.m. to close each night to any location up to three miles around Shades Bar and Grill. A map featured on both websites show exact delivery locations.

Seagar’s Prime Steaks & Seafood will be undergoing an annual refresh on Jan. 1 and will reopen Jan. 21 during 2020.

Amigo’s 30A Mexican Kitchen is now open in Inlet Beach’s 30Avenue shops from 3 p.m. to midnight seven days a week. The restaurant plans to open for lunch early 2020.

New Shopping Additions and Renovations:

Grand Boulevard continues to add new businesses to its mix. Additions coming in 2020 are: Lululemon and Black Bear Bread Co.

New Accommodation Updates and Renovations:

Hotel Effie will be a new full-service hotel and will include a three-meal restaurant, a lobby bar, room service, a luxury spa, a fitness facility and a signature rooftop pool and bar. In addition to these amenities, the four-star hotel will feature over 20,000 feet of meeting space and feature a 13,000 square foot ballroom. Completion is expected in May 2020.

 

Osprey Pointe construction continues to be on schedule for an early 2020 opening. The new 77-unit condominium complex will offer 2, 3 and 4-bedroom vacation rental properties with stunning views of nature preserve and Choctawhatchee Bay along with exclusive pool and clubhouse amenities. Meanwhile, Sandestin has completed the installation of a new traffic circle at Heron Walk and Baytowne Avenue to improve traffic flow to the Village of Baytowne Wharf and within the resort.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Miramar Beach is currently under construction and will be one of the newest accommodations in Miramar Beach. The pet-friendly Inn will feature a pool, RV parking, a fitness center, and free breakfast, just blocks away from the Gulf of Mexico. The project is expected to open in early 2020.

 

Hilton Garden Inn Miramar Beach, located along Scenic Gulf Drive, is located steps away from the Gulf of Mexico and just 5 minutes from the Silver Sands Premium Outlets. The property, which is slated to open in April 2020, will feature an outdoor pool, fitness center, on-site restaurant and complimentary WI-FI.

 

Other Updates and Additions:

The WaterColor Beach Club continues undergoing a multi-phased expansion. Soon, the Rita Bar will offer Baha Mexican-inspired bites. When the final phase of the expansion is completed (anticipated to be by early spring 2020), guests will also be able to enjoy a second pool deck with additional lounge seating and a third pool with zero-entry, in addition to an enlargement of the iconic WaterColor Grill and a brand-new casual fast-dining option, aptly named Beach Cow.

 

Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club recently unveiled plans for a “new course.” Renovations are planned to begin winter of 2020 with a fall 2021 completion date.

SoWal Pilates opened new studio location in The Shops at The Hub on 30A. Lifetime local and owner Brittany Lee Rebelledo decided to expand her businesses into a larger, more modern studio located on the 2nd floor above Oko Lifestyle.
