Everett Receives Destination Management Executive Designation
Walton County, Fla. — June 11 — Communications Director Nicole Everett with Walton County Tourism has earned the Certified Destination Management Executive designation, the only certification program specifically designed for the destination management industry. The program is offered through Destinations International, the world’s largest resource for official destination organizations and tourism boards, with a focus on vision, leadership, productivity and the implementation of business strategies.
"We’re incredibly proud of Nicole and congratulate her on attaining the tourism industry’s highest professional credential,” said Tourism Director Matt Algarin. “The CDME program is rigorous, and Nicole’s achievement of this designation underscores her commitment to driving excellence and innovation at Walton County Tourism and our industry.”
Everett has been with Walton County Tourism since 2022. Before then she was in the news media business for more than 40 years, culminating as publisher of multiple weekly newspapers in Northwest Florida. Everett earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Florida State University and a master’s degree in business administration from FSU Panama City.

Everett joins the Walton County Tourism leadership team, including Algarin, Marketing Director Kelli Carter and Sales Director Karen Morris, in earning the CDME credential. The program is designed to prepare destination organization professionals to leverage their experience and to apply their knowledge with a focus on vision, leadership, productivity and implementing business strategies.
