Walton County Tourism is now accepting nominations for the 2027 Van Ness Butler, Jr. Hospitality Award. The application can be found on the Van Ness Butler, Jr. Hospitality Award webpage. Submissions will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 4, either by using the online form or emailing the application to Lisa@WCFLTourism.com.

This distinguished award honors the enduring legacy of the Butler family, whose founding of the Grayton Beach Hotel established the foundation for Walton County's thriving tourism industry. Their pioneering spirit and unwavering commitment to hospitality excellence continue to inspire today's tourism leaders.

“The success of Walton County as a world-class destination is made possible by the remarkable people who embody genuine hospitality every day,” said Walton County Tourism Director Matt Algarin. “The Van Ness Butler Jr. Hospitality Award celebrates individuals whose leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment to serving others reflect the legacy of Van Ness Butler Jr. Their dedication enriches our community, elevates the visitor experience and inspires the next generation of hospitality leaders.”

Nominees are judged for their lifetime body of work, based on their high-level commitment and service to creating community vitality and quality of place, advocacy for and support of Walton County’s tourism economy, active engagement with WCT’s initiatives and activities to enhance Walton County’s standing as a premier travel destination and as a strong voice to protect and strengthen Walton County’s hospitality and tourism marketplace.

The award is open to any individual living or working in Walton County who has made a significant impact in promoting tourism and hospitality.
