What's New in South Walton this Summer

WALTON COUNTY, Fla.—July 9, 2018— Summer is in full swing, and South Walton has a variety of new businesses, tours and yummy treats for you to check out. Here’s what’s new in South Walton this Summer.

New Restaurant Openings and Renovations:

  • Grayton Beer Brewpub recently opened in Grayton Beach. The fully operational brewery, restaurant and bar is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner beginning at 11 AM. Grayton Beer Brewpub is outfitted with a 7-barrel small batch system which presents another opportunity for the Grayton Beer Company brew team, under the direction of Brewers Tyler White and Josh Gauger, for in-depth research and development, as well as an educational component for the general public.

  • 30A Burger, a casual eatery offering a selection of burgers, chicken, hot dogs, custard shakes, and more is now open at 30Avenue in Inlet Beach. Open daily for lunch and dinner with indoor and outdoor seating, the location is also pet friendly with a special “Dawg Menu”.

  • You can now enjoy all-natural Hawaiian style shave ice, self-serve frozen yogurt, ice cream and sorbet with an assortment of toppings, candies and baked good at the newly opened Sweet Stop 30A. The new sweet spot is located in Gulf Place, and can also be found running around in their mobile dessert food truck which serves their soft-serve, frozen yogurt, sorbet and Italian ice as well as Hawaiian Shave Ice.

  • La Cocina Mexican Grill and Bar unveiled a brand new menu from Chef Eric Bartholomew. The new menu will focus on more upscale elements including locally caught seafood, grass fed beef and locally sourced produce.

  •  Café Tango released a new “Afternoon Al Fresco” menu in April. The new menu spotlights tapas, wine and beer with some Spanish seafood classics. Other menu items include baked brie, fried oysters and a blackened grouper sandwich. The new menu will be available starting a 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
  • Sunrise Ice Cream and Candy, a retro-style candy and ice cream shop with an awesome arcade is now open in Gulf Place. Take a trip back to the good ol’ days and treat yourself and the family to candy classics, ice cream, milkshakes and many other sweet treats.
  •  The Market Shops in Miramar Beach will soon welcome Maple Street Biscuit Company. The Jacksonville, Florida-based establishment is famous for its flaky biscuits and its mission to help people, serve others and become integrated in the community. Maple Street Biscuit Company serves a variety of signature homemade biscuits, entrees, salads and side dishes.
  • Trebeache has a new general manager and a fresh new menu. Inspired by regional flavors and local, seasonal, fresh ingredients the culinary team has crafted a new summer menu which includes new signature items like Catfish Couvillion, Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Peanut Slaw, and a new chilled bar menu. You can also check out their new Brunch menu served on Sundays from 10-3.

  • Market 27 recently joined the culinary line up in Seacrest Beach. The deli and bakery offers breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a juice bar and a market. The market is housed in the former Acme Ice House spot just beside Peddler’s Pavillion.

New Shopping Additions and Renovations:

  • The new East End Gallery is now open. The full-service gallery has over 125 linear feet of display space features more than 50 carefully selected works from local and regional artists. Located behind Shades Bar and Grill in Inlet Beach, the location represents a collaboration between art and business. The gallery operates Monday through Friday from 10 until 4, and Saturday by appointment only.

  • Clint Eager Designs has ventured into the world of textiles with pillows, placemats, t-shirts and jewelry. The Gallery is also proud to announce their new partnership with Friends of South Walton Sea Turtles. You can now buy their plush turtles and will soon be able to purchase Sea Turtle themed paintings and new t-shirts as part of the collaboration.
  • Silver Sands Premium Outlets will soon welcome Old Navy to their store line-up. Other new additions include Greg Norman which opened in early June, Sea & Sand Jewelry and Pepper Palace. In addition to these new opening, Silver Sands has also seen courtyard upgrades including new soft seating and shade elements just in time for the summer heat.
  • Tribe Kelley Surf Post recently opened in Grayton Beach. Tribe Kelley is a USA made clothing brand founded and operated by Brian Kelly of Florida Georgia Line and his wife, Brittney. The brand is a collection of transitional pieces to carry you from the work to the party and everything in between. You can check out their new post every day from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.

New Accommodation Updates and Renovations:

  • The Florida Green Building Coalition, FGBC, has awarded Platinum certification to eight Alys Beach condominium residences located within the property’s mixed-use building The Lucian. Designed by Khoury & Vogt Architects, four of the eight units were named Finalists in FGBC’s Highest Scoring Green Multi-Family award category, with Lucian Unit #202’s Platinum score earning Florida Green Building Coalition’s top 2017 multi-family score, and Alys Beach Lucian Development LLL acclaimed as FGBC’s 2017 Multi-Family Builder of the Year.
  • St. Joe Club & Resorts has expanded with the first boutique hotel in WaterSound Beach. The WaterSound Inn is located within the second and third floors of the Gate House Building and features private balconies overlooking the WaterSound Beach Sundial and Yacht Pond. Amenities available for guests include golf club access, complimentary bicycles, indoor and outdoor dining and seamless access to the WaterSound Beach Club pools and complimentary beach chair service.
  • The Florida Forest Service is thrilled to announce the grand opening of a much-anticipated campground at Point Washington State Forest. The primitive campground is located on Eastern Lake, with four campsites positioned around a loop scenically in the forest. A floating dock with exclusive access for canoe and kayaks to Eastern Lake is offered.
  • WaterSound Beach recently began construction on their new housing development, Grace Point. Uniquely located, Grace Point sits nestled between the WaterSound Beach Club and the WaterSound Beach Community. It boasts 44 home sites surrounded by live oaks and pine forests in a unique, natural environment.

 

Other Updates and Additions:

  • Eventure Tour Company has released two new tour options along South Walton. Their new Foodie Tour features some of 30A’s best dining spots with tapas, beer flights and wine along the way. The tour lasts for around two-and-a-half hours and is only available for ages 21 and up. Another tour option for those interested in South Walton’s art scene is the South Walton Artist Tour. With a myriad of talented artists and photographers within pedaling distance, this tour will introduce you to some of South Walton’s photographers, painters and sculptors you won’t soon forget.
  • 30A brand has recycled 1 million bottles through the sales of their 30A Dumpster Diver apparel line. The shirts are made through yarn from broken down plastic bottles. The apparel line features 9 different colors and over 30 designs including t-shirts, V-necks, beach cover ups and more. The apparel line is available in over 150 retail locations nationwide, and recently celebrated the sale of its 125,000th shirt.

  • Bay Baits and Rent Gear Here are now offering Eco Tours on their line of Hobie Mirage Drive Kayaks and Hobie Mirage Drive Eclipses around the Choctawhatchee Bay. In addition to the new kayak eco tours, they are also offering kayak fishing charters along the shallow waters of the Bay.
  • Grayton Beer Company recently released two new cans to its lineup of keg and bottled beers. The new cans are the first release showcasing the brand’s new, redesigned packaging. Consumers can now enjoy the company’s flagship “ 30A Beach Blonde” and new release Rose Gose on the beach and on-the-go in the new cans.
  • Experience a taste of South Walton’s craft beer scene with Gulf Coast Go’s Brew Tour. Currently offered every Tuesday and Thursday for everyone aged 21 and up, the tour starts from the public parking lot on Hwy 283 South and makes three stops over three hours at Grayton Beer Company, Shades Bar and Grill and Grayton Brewpub.
  • The Rental Shop 30A, a full-service beach rental company, is now offering golf cart rentals. The new service not only includes the golf-cart’s rental but also free delivery and pick-up of the cart. The service is available to all 16 South Walton Beach Communities, and all carts are street legal.
  • Spa98 in Miramar Beach is under new ownership and is sporting a new look. Spa98 carries top of the line skincare products that provide real results. In addition to their product lines, they offer skincare treatments such as facials, dermabrasion, waxing and peels, and salon services to help you feel rejuvenated.

  • From now through September you can visit Mary Hong’s The Shard Shop in their brand new, seasonal spot in Baytowne Wharf. Classes are available for the new shop via phone or walk-in. The storefront is open from 4-9 PM daily with class times at 4, 5:30 and 7. The friendly Make-Your-Own-Art boutique offers take home kits in addition to their classes and pre-done art for your enjoyment.
