What's Happening in South Walton in June

As we prepare to kick-off Summer in South Walton, there are plenty of events and activities for the entire family! From fishing tournaments to family movie nights, South Walton has endless adventures. See what’s going on around town. For more events, visit www.visitsouthwalton.com.

 

Spotlight Events:

June 1: Seaside Dance Festival: 7:30 p.m.

The Seaside Dance Festival offers three exciting, variety-packed dance-themed events for the serious dance aficionado and those who appreciate the performing arts. The festival will feature members from national dance companies performing a variety of dance styles, including ballet, contemporary, tap, hip hop, jazz, modern, neo-classical and more.

 

June 5: Idyll Hounds Brewing Company Bottle Release: Dry As Shell Brut IPA: 4-10 p.m.

Join Idyll Hounds Brewing Company for their first IPA Bottle Release Party. Dry As A Shell Brut IPA , a collaboration between Perfect Plain Brewing Co. and Idyll Hounds Brewing Company, is a bright and effervescent Brut IPA that was dry-hopped with Galaxy and Citra and brewed for a bone dry champagne-style finish.

Proceeds from each beer sold will benefit the Gulfarium CARE Center at Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park who focuses on rescue and rehabilitation efforts for sea turtles of all species found in the Gulf Coast.

 

June 6: Outdoor Theatre: ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ at Grand Boulevard: 7-10 p.m.

Emerald Coast Theatre Company presents an adaptation of “Much Ado About Nothing.” Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy Shakespeare under the stars at the Grand Park in Grand Boulevard. This hilarious comedy is about misunderstandings, love and deception. The course of true love never did run smooth. To add to the fun Abrakadoodle will offer a themed kid’s craft pre-show at 7 p.m. In the event of rain, join us at the ECTC theatre upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard. All parking for event is on site at Grand Boulevard. Free and open to the public.

 

June 8: Cornhole Tournament at Grayton Beer Brewpub: 1:30 p.m.

Start your Saturday off right with a beer-friendly Cornhole Tournament at the Grayton Beer Brewpub. Tournaments take place the second Saturday of every month through September. 2-man team signup begins at 1:30 p.m. and the tournament begins at 2 p.m. Competition is limited to the first eight teams. Prizes awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.

 

June 13: Amavida Coffee Roasters Tour: 10 a.m.

Bring a friend, or come make some! Join Amavida every 2nd Thursday of the month for a tour of their roastery and a coffee tasting with your local coffee roaster. You’ll get to see behind the scenes operations of specialty coffee roasting and meet some of the team who make it possible to enjoy fresh roasted coffee from across the globe in your community. Tours last an hour, to an hour and a half. Groups of 8-10 are welcome. Please RSVP using link below.

 

June 16: Silvia’s Ukelele Beach Party at Pompano Joe’s: 6 p.m.

A fun night of Ukelele music you can sing along to! Bring the entire family out for this free, fun, family-friendly event at Pompano Joe’s.

 

June 19-23: Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic

Held June 19-23 at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic is a premier sport-fishing tournament which draws record crowds. Big fish and big money prizes have made the Emerald Coast Blue Marline Classic an event you don’t want to miss. Baytowne Marine is the place to be for two days of exciting weigh-ins as anglers vie for nearly $2 million in prizes. Nightly entertainment and activities, as well as a live cooking demonstration, fireworks, and live music. Admission is free and open to the public.

June 19: Father’s Day Cruise aboard the Solaris: 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Dad is the guest of honor on the SOLARIS Father’s Day Sunset Dinner Cruise on Sunday, June 16 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. The SOLARIS chefs are preparing a decadent menu featuring coastal cuisines as Dad enjoys the fresh breezes and magnificent sunset views from a 125 foot yacht.

 

June 20: Third Thursday Wine Walk at Gulf Place: 5 p.m.

Join the Gulf Place Merchants for this super fun South Walton tradition! For just $20, attendees can enjoy samplings of hand-selected wines, light appetizers, live music and giveaways while venturing to all the unique Gulf Place shops. Check in at 5 p.m. at the stage to receive your complimentary glass and your walkabout map.

 June 22: Ballet at Twilight: 7:30 p.m.

Northwest Florida Ballet presents an evening of classical ballet and contemporary dance featuring international guest artists in Grand Park, June 22, 7:30 p.m. Some seating will be provided but it is recommended to bring your own chair or blanket. This event is free and open to the public.

 

June 23: Market in the Park at Grayton Beer Company: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Come out to the Grayton Beer Company Taproom and shop this family friendly local market featuring a variety of vendors, live music and beer.

 

June 25: Gentle Yoga at Eden Gardens State Park: 9:30 a.m.

Come out to Eden Gardens State Park for a morning gentle yoga session. The session will either be under the trees or in the pavilion depending on weather. All proceeds go to support Eden Gardens State Park – beginners welcome. Bring a yoga mat, water bottle and get ready to honor your body through a gentle flow. Tickets are $15, buy online or pay in cash or check upon arrival.

 

June 29: Rags to Riches Regatta: 8 a.m. (registration)

For the 23rd year, the Rags to Riches Regatta will take place in Grayton Beach. Come out to watch the regatta take off from the shores of Grayton Beach, have a cold one from Grayton Beer Company and pick up a t-shirt commemorating the 2019 Regatta. Relax and watch the colorful catamarans on the Gulf as they race to Seagrove Beach and back to Grayton. Race registration begins at 8 a.m. on the beach at the Grayton Beach access with a Captain’s meeting at 11 a.m. with the race beginning soon after.

Free Fitness on the Lawn at the Market Shops: 5:30 p.m.

Free fitness on the lawn takes place at 5:30 every Monday thru July 29 with Pure Barre. Individuals of all fitness levels are encouraged to attend. Classes will consist of low-impact, high intensity movements that are designed to strengthen and tone.

 

HydroFlight Mondays at Village of Baytowne Wharf: 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Every Monday thru August beginning at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. come enjoy evening shows from fly-board extraordinaire Ben Merrell over the lagoon. Admission is free and open to the public.

 

The REP performs Alice in Wonderland at Seaside Amphitheatre: 6:30 p.m.

Every Monday thru August 29th, come enjoy a free performance of Alice in Wonderland at the Seaside Amphitheatre. Free and open to all ages.

 

Tuesdays:

Wine & Song at NEAT – Alys Beach: 5 p.m.

Enjoy light bites and live music while tasting select wines every Tuesday night 5-7 p.m. 21 and up only, $15 per person.

 

Live music at The HUB at WaterSound Beach: 6 p.m.

Every Tuesday night meet up at The HUB for live music from local bands. Admission is free and open to the public, food and beverage available for purchase.

 

Live Music at 45 Central Wine & Sushi Bar: 6:30 p.m.

Enjoy live music from Cadillac Duo every Tuesday night 6:30-9:30 p.m. Arrive early and enjoy Happy Hour from 4-6 p.m. with half off wine by the glass.

 

Boomin’ Tuesday’s at The Village of Baytowne Wharf: 7-9:15 p.m.

Come out each Tuesday for lawn games and inflatables, followed by a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. over the Lagoon. Free and open to the public!

Seaside Summer Concert Series: 7 p.m.

Every Wednesday through Labor Day grab your blankets and chairs for the Seaside Summer Concert Series at the Seaside Amphitheater. This month’s lineup includes: June 5 – The High Divers, June 12 – Future Thieves, June 19 – Los Coast, June 26 – PREACHERVAN.

 

Wednesday Night Bonfire at The Bay: 6-9 p.m.

Enjoy live music from various local bands on the beach by the fire while dining at The Bay Restaurant. Upcoming performances by: The Shakedown (June 5), Sugar Cane Jane (June 12), Josh Fox (June 19) and Dion James (June 26).

 

Family Movie Night at The HUB at WaterSound Beach: 7 p.m.

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a family-friendly movie night on the lawn at The Hub. Admission is free and open to the public, food and beverage available for purchase. *All movie nights begin at 7 p.m.

 

Wednesday Night Concert Series at Baytowne Wharf: 7 p.m.

The Wednesday Night Concert Series returns to Baytowne. Sit back and relax as you take in the cool crisp air and enjoy live entertainment from local and regional talent from a variety of genres. Concert begins at 7 p.m. on the Events Plaza Stage.

 

Family Fishing Tournaments: 12 p.m.

Every Wednesday through September stop by the Baytowne Marina Bait Shop to receive your fishing rod. The family to catch the biggest fish and provide a picture to the bait shop will receive a prize! *1 rod per family, must bring photo back by 1:30 p.m. Fish are catch and release.

 

Summer Reels at Alys Beach Amphitheater: 8 p.m.

All summer long, you can enjoy free movies with the family at the Alys Beach Amphitheater. June’s movie lineup includes: June 5 – Space Jam, June 12 – Zootopia, June 19 – Cars 3, June 26 – The Jungle Book. All movies are free and open to the public.

30A Summer Concert Series at Seagrove Plaza: 6 p.m.

Join RUN/SUP every Friday morning in June and July at the BoatHouse in WaterColor for the Summer Race Series. Sign up to compete in a race featuring a one-mile trail run and one-mile paddle race. New in 2019 is a relay option.

Seaside Farmer’s Market at Seaside Amphitheatre: 9 a.m.

Seaside Farmers Market takes place in the Seaside Amphitheater every Saturday rain or shine 9 a.m.-12p.m.! Seaside Farmers Market is on a mission to educate the public about sustainable practices by providing a well-rounded, green living experience. Vendors offer farm fresh, locally grown produce, homemade baked goods, beef from happy cows, heirloom seeds, artisan breads and cheeses, organic eggs, preserves, and doggie treats, to name a few.

 

Farmer’s Market at Grand Boulevard: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Every Saturday, year-round, rain or shine, the Grand Boulevard Farmer's Market features dozens of unique vendors offering mostly locally sourced food-based items such as produce, grass-fed beef, chicken, and pork, local honey, pickled vegetables, gourmet jams, unique homemade hummus, flowers, herbs, soaps and lotions and much more.

 

Family Challenge Saturdays at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park: 9 a.m.

Every Saturday bring the family to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for a fun challenge you can complete together. Challenges range from geocaching, photo scavenger hunt, a beach scavenger hunt, or an art challenge! Check in at the Park Store between 9 a.m. – 2 p.m for your family challenge packet. Upon completion, return the packet to the Park Store for your treat.

 

Baytowne LIVE at Baytowne Wharf: 7 p.m.

All month long enjoy the musical stylings of local artists on the beautiful Baytowne LIVE stage across from MooLaLa. Concerts are free and open to the public.

 

Orvis Fly Fishing 101 at Orvis Sandestin: 9:50 a.m.

Learn fly-fishing basics in one of Orvis’ free Fly Fishing 101 classes. Perfect for beginners of all ages. Fly Fishing 101 will provide you with free lessons on fly casting and outfit rigging. Each participant will receive special offers on the essential equipment needed to get started. Classes held every Saturday.

30A Farmer’s Market in Rosemary Beach: 9 a.m.  

Come out to do your food shopping and pick up fresh from the farm produce, baked goods and pastries, delicious prepared foods, and much more. Take in the stunning views of Rosemary Beach where you'll find vendors lining the park with tents and all the good stuff.

 

Sunday Brunch at Pescado: 10:30 a.m.

Chef Ken Duenas has prepared an elegant and sophisticated brunch menu. Take in the relaxing views of Rosemary Beach from Pescado’s rooftop while drinking Mimosas and Rose’ – all day. Live acoustic music from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. with weekly rotating artists. 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays.
